2016 was the host of a plethora of wins and failures that several years from now we will all reflect and remember. Here are five moments from 2016.

#1: Celebrity Deaths

Celebrity deaths occurred frequently last year. We lost celebrities like Carrie Fisher, George Michael, David Bowie, Prince, Muhammad Ali, Nancy Reagan, and the list continues on. 2016 was the worst year for celebrity deaths in recent time.

#2: The Presidential Election

The 2016 elections was the most difficult when it came down to Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump.  There were other candidates like Ted Cruz, Bernie Sanders, Marco Rubio, and others. This election was more about accusations and less of what each candidate’s motives moving forward as a country.

#3: The Internet Challenges

So many challenges had swept the social media platforms last year. Challenges included the water bottle flip, mannequin, eat it or wear it, beanboozled, and more. You could say that 2016 was “The Year of Internet Challenges”, basically where this trend reached its prime.

#4: Mariah Carey’s New Year’s Eve Mishap

Mariah Carey’s performance got us feeling “Emotions”. Carey first lip synced to her 2010 rendition of “Auld Lang Syne” (Originally made for New Years 2011). When she started singing “Emotions”, her audio vocal track didn’t show up and she gave up. Mariah Carey’s performance was pretty much how 2016 was.

#5: Cubs World Series Win

There were plenty of major wins in sports, including the Cavaliers defeating the Warriors in game seven and the Broncos winning Super Bowl 50, but there was one win that swept the nation: the Cubs winning the World Series. The Chicago Cubs ended their 108 year drought and a lot of people jumped on the bandwagon. This win will definitely be one of the most unforgettable moment in sports for 2016.

2016 may have been a bad year, but hopefully 2017 will be full of wonderful moments and positive memories that you’ll be able to remember forever.
