The Northrop Bruins pulled out a win last night over the Lakewood Park Panthers 62-45 after losing four straight.

Northrop led by three after the first quarter and increased the lead to eight going into halftime. The Bruins’ Richard Robertson led the way with 12 points in the first half.

“Coming off these four losses in a row we needed this dub at home,” said Robertson

Lakewood Park stuck with the Bruins through the third quarter, but they got fatigued late in the fourth and Northrop took the victory 62-45.

“Playing against a really good 2-3 zone helps us,” says Northrop head coach, Rod Chamble. “This will get us to the point where teams have to play us man-to-man, and when you play us man we have a better chance than when teams play zone.”

Robertson was the game’s leading scorer with 29 points. He also added 9 rebounds and was money at the free throw line, sinking 14 of 17 from the stripe. Keegan Fetters led the Panthers with 20 points.

“We’re going to take it one at a time,” says Chamble. “I hope and pray we come out with the same energy Friday as we did today.”

Northrop’s next game is Friday, January 20 hosting Wayne.
