The Northrop Bruins visited North Side Friday night and were defeated 60-71 after the Legends pulled away late in the fourth quarter.

North Side came out ready to play, and they couldn’t seem to miss in the first quarter. The Bruins were in foul trouble early, forcing Coach Rod Chamble to turn to his bench. Tavin Colbert answered the call, going 3-4 from three-point land. Northrop stayed with the Legends and went into the locker room down 8.

“We’ve got to jump on [North Side] early,” says Chamble. “We’re always playing from behind when we play them. It takes a lot of energy to catch up.”

The Bruins returned in the second half with more intensity. Their defense held North Side to just 11 points in the third quarter as the offense shortened the deficit to just 3 going into the fourth.

In the fourth quarter, the Legends pulled away as Northrop ran out of gas. North Side went on to win 71-60. This was the second time the Legends defeated the Bruins this season, the first in the quarter-finals of the SAC Holiday Tournament.

North Side’s Keion Brooks led all scorers with 26 points, and Juan Quarles added 22. Richard Robertson led the Bruins with 16 points, and Tyj Cobb put up a double-double.
