The Northrop Bruins, visitors of the DeKalb Barons last night, won their third consecutive game 52-46 to begin the season 3-0.

Buckets were hard to come by until the fourth quarter, as the score was 31-29 Northrop after three.

“If we’re going to beat more good teams we’re going to have to play better than this,” says Northrop head coach, Rod Chamble. “If we’re going to compete in the SAC, we can’t have games like that.”

The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth scoring clinic with neither team pulling away. Richard Robertson hit three clutch three pointers for the Bruins to give Northrop a slight edge. The Barons were eventually given too much to handle, as Northrop came out on top 52-46.

“It wasn’t until the end when we built up our energy, started playing hustle basketball, and were able to turn the corner and get a W,” said Chamble.

Robertson led all scorers with 18 points. Logan Kruse and Zach Frane scored 15 and 14 respectively for DeKalb.

Northrop’s next game is Friday, December 9 hosting Bishop Luers.
