The Northrop Bruins traveled to Columbia City last night and came away with a 39-38 victory in a low-scoring affair.

Neither team could get any offense going in the first half. The score was just 7-2 after one quarter of play, and the Bruins led 18-12 at the half.

Northrop came out of the locker room hot, outscoring the Eagles 15-6 in the third quarter.

It was the fourth quarter when things got interesting. Columbia City caught fire from downtown, mounting a huge comeback. The Eagles came within one late, but it wasn’t enough, as Northrop pulled out the win in their first game of the year.

“It’s good to get off to a good start,” says Northrop head coach, Rod Chamble. “You have to give credit to Columbia City. They shot the lights out of the ball. We’re just happy to get out of here with a W.”

Richard Robertson led the Bruins with 20 points, including four threes. Neeko Braster aslo chipped in 8 points. Noah Wigent scored a team high 11 for the Eagles.

Northrop’s next game is today, hosting South Bend John Adams at 4:30 pm.
