To get to the finals at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Ault knows he needs to improve his game.
“I’m changing my attacking style, instead of just low singles [single-leg takedown],” he said.
Ault’s speed and self awareness makes him a formidable opponent, but a strong mind and strong focus is essential to succeeding in wrestling.
“I want to have a better work ethic, not playing around as much,” Ault said.

Ault’s father was a wrestler and Heath tries to live up to his legacy and follow his advice.

“My dad said ‘Don’t quit always do your best, don’t worry who you’re going against, records and stuff don’t matter, and that anything can happen,’” he said.

Ault has changed a great deal since his freshman season and credits his strong mind, which will help him overcome an injury sustained at the end of last season. He was unable to wrestle over the summer.
“I have to work twice as hard to get to state because I didnt do off season,” Ault said.

Ault will moving up a weight class to 195 lbs. this year, last year he wrestled 182 lbs.
