The Northrop Bruin varsity football team scrimmaged against the Huntington North Vikings tonight and came away with a victory five scores to two.

The Bruins struck first with a long touchdown run from Casey Lawrence. Northrop went up two scores after Garrett Schoenle connected with Ben Arruza for another touchdown. Lawrence really put the pressure on Huntington North to start off the second rotation of the scrimmage, scoring his second touchdown of the match.

The Vikings found the end zone twice in the second rotation, but were stymied for most of the night by the Bruins’ tough defense.

Schoenle would throw for two more touchdowns later in the match, one to Ty Smith and another to Arruza.

Northrop looked sharp all night and the players are ready for their week one showdown at Homestead next Friday, August 19.
