Poptropica App Review

During our Middle School years, only one thing would keep us happy. In between all of the goth phases, blue eye shadow, and Silly Bands, and all the pre-algebra and boring library visits, this thing was the only “educational” tool for our teachers, in hopes of  keeping us rowdy children from rioting against the school districts. This game was the highlight of any computer lab visit. Poptropica. This widely known game dominated all of the school districts and kept us rabid kids a bay.

Poptropica is a free to play, world-explorer simulation game. Created by Jeff Kinney, the author of the popular children’s books, Diary of a Wimpy Kid. In the game you play as a cute animated character who explores the world of Poptropica. The World of Poptropica is a series of islands with various themes for each one. Some things ranging from Shrink Ray Island, where you are shrunken down to the size of a quarter, or like Escape From Pelican Rock, where you play as a person who is framed for a crime you didn’t commit and then is thrown in an “Alcatraz-Esc” prison.

And now it’s an app! The app takes everything from the computer version of the game and imports it into a handy app! The app comes with several old islands from the original online game and more of the newer ones. Poptropica has 13 islands so far, with even more coming! None of which are exclusive for the mobile app but some may come in the future! The game’s controls are relatively easy but can be quite touchy at some times. On the mobile version everything is smaller for the smaller screens on phones. And the control of the game can be quite annoying and extremely touchy, but the overall controls are okay.

All around, the game is very easy to learn how to play and extremely fun! It is available on iOS, Android and Kindle Fire Products.
