‘Revenant’ stunning, mind-blowing

Alexis Crebb

Staff Writer

The Revenant, based off a 2002 novel by Michael Punke, tells the story of Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio), a frontiersman from the early 1800s on the path of revenge after his son (Forrest Goodluck) is murdered and is left for dead after enduring a near fatal bear attack. Now Glass must survive the uncharted wilderness against hostile Native Americans and the unforgiving winter chill.

Along with DiCaprio and Goodluck, the film also stars Tom Hardy, Will Poulter, and Domhnall Gleeson.

The Revenant must be one of the most gorgeous films I’ve ever seen. The cinematography looks absolutely stunning, the acting is powerful and the emotional factor is brilliant. You actually feel like you are stranded in the wilderness with the characters.

DiCaprio’s acting was astounding and definitely Oscar-worthy. Tom Hardy was a great antagonist, and Forrest Goodluck did amazing work as well.

This film will blow your mind, and with its cinematography and wonderful acting, .

Rating: 5/5

The Revenant is rated R for strong frontier combat and violence including gory images, a sexual assault, language and brief nudity.
