Northrop Downs DeKalb in Home Opener

The Northrop Bruins’ boys’ basketball team opened their season tonight with a win at home against the DeKalb Barons.

The Bruins jumped out to an 18-14 lead in the first quarter behind Richard Robertson’s 8 first half points and 2 three pointers.

Jagger Surface caught fire in the second quarter, scoring 16 points to lead Northrop to a 38-25 halftime lead.

The Bruins came out of the locker room running a fast paced offense and playing tight, aggressive defense. Northrop kept piling on points and the Barons had no answer for it. The Bruins went on to win their home opener 79-67. Surface led the Bruins in scoring with 23. Robertson added 18 points of his own. Darius Craig also dished out 9 assists.

Northrop’s next game is Tuesday, December 1 at New Haven at 7:45 p.m.
