Northrop Ends Football Season With Sectional Loss To Homestead

The Northrop Bruins ended their 2015 football season tonight with a 14-48 loss to Homestead in the first round of sectionals.

The Bruins jumped out to an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter with a touchdown run by Jason Ash. The Spartans answered with a score of their own later in the quarter to tie it up.

Homestead dominated the second quarter, scoring three touchdowns and holding Northrop scoreless. The Spartans went into the half with a 27-7 lead.

Northrop reached the end zone first in the second half. Jordan Dickinson caught a pass downfield and flipped the ball to Ash who ran it in for a touchdown. Homestead then took advantage of good field position off of a Northrop fumble and scored making the score 34-14. The Spartans would score once more in the third quarter and for a last time in the fourth, going on to win the game 48-14.

Jason Ash had a big game for the Bruins, rushing for 102 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Jordan Dickinson also racked up some yards, finishing the game with 67 receiving yards.

In his first season as head football coach, Jason Doerffler led Northrop to a 2-8 record.
