Healthy Snacks Can Taste Fantastic

America is known as a fat country. As of 2014, 27.7 percent of Americans are obese. It went up .6 percent from the 2013. People also think restaurants are getting healthier. But even if they are, it’s more expensive. Fast food restaurants are not so healthy and are a lot cheaper. So maybe one reason for obesity is that the junk food is a lot cheaper than healthy food.

Another reason may be that junk food tastes good. It’s faster, easier and tastier to go get some fast food through the drive through rather than going through your fridge for vegetables, cooking them up and making a healthy stew out of them.

There is nothing we can do about laziness, but there is something that we can do about eating healthy food over fast food. Here are some recipes:

IF YOU ARE THIRSTY:

  • Green Tea, Blueberry, Banana Smoothie: Serving Size – 1
  • 3 tbsp of water
  • Green tea bag
  • 2 tsp of honey
  • 1 ½ cup of frozen blueberries
  • ½ med of banana
  • ¾ cup of calcium fortified light vanilla soy milk
  1. Microwave water until hot in a small bowl. Add the tea bag and let it sit for 3 minutes. Remove tea bag, then stir honey into tea until the honey dissolves
  2. Combine all fruit and milk in a blender with ice
  3. Add the tea and blend until satisfied

  • “World’s Best Smoothie”
  • 1 cup of plain, nonfat yogurt
  • 1 Banana
  • ½ cup of orange juice
  • 6 frozen strawberries
  1. Combine all ingredients into blender and blend for about 20-30 seconds
  2. Serve
