A lack of judges may have hurt the Northrop Speech Team at Lafayette Jefferson High School on January 17, but individually, our debaters performed exceptionally well.

The Team could not place at this competition because of lack of judges. However, if there were enough judges, the speech team would have placed tied to Ben Davis High School: which would have been eighth.  However there were individual results of the competition as well:

  • Caleb Curtis received 2nd in Dramatic Interpretation.
  • Urvi Joshi received 6th in United States Extemporaneous Speaking, and also received 5th in Impromptu Speaking.
  • Srikiran Dasari received 10th in International Extemporaneous Speaking.
  • Melissa Kizer received 10th in Broadcasting.

Congratulations to the competitors who placed at this difficult competition.  This Saturday the Speech Team will travel to Rossville. If anyone is interested in being a judge for the speech team on Saturday, please see Mrs. Fretz in room A203.
