Bears WR Out For Season

Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall left last Thursday night’s game against the Dallas Cowboys with a rib injury. He suffered the injury in the second quarter at the end of a 15-yard reception.

It was later revealed that he suffered two broken ribs and a collapsed lung after he was kneed in the back on the play by Barry Church. On December 5, he was placed on injured reserve, ending his season. On December 8, Marshall was released from the hospital.

With Marshall out for the season, the Bears’ offensive struggles are bound to continue. Despite touting star players at skill positions, such as Matt Forte, Alshon Jeffrey and Martellus Bennett, Chicago has failed to top 28 points even once this season. Losing one of Jay Cutler’s biggest offensive weapons won’t help matters.

Marshall has been the longtime go-to target for quarterback Jay Cutler. The two have been among the NFL’s most talented quarterback-receiver combinations since beginning their careers together in Denver. They were teammates for four years as Broncos, and have been together in Chicago since 2012.

Marshall was on his way to having yet another great season this year, with 721 yards and 8 touchdowns through 13 games this season.
