The underclassmen awards will be passed out on May 27.  These awards are for the freshman, sophomores, and juniors who have accumulative G.P.A. of 3.5 or above. It is an amazing accomplishment to get one of these awards because a 3.5 GPA is a B to B+ range and higher. To get high honors, students need to have a GPA of 3.5-3.79. To receive scholarship with distinction students need to have a GPA of 3.8 or higher.

These awards help students receive awards when a senior as well. When underclassmen get scholarship with distinction, it is awarded to any student who has an accumulated GPA of 3.8 by the end of spring term three of senior year.  The student will receive a certificate, an honor stole and an honor tassel at the Senior Honors Banquet.  High honors are awarded to any student any student whose accumulated GPA is 3.5 or better by the end of the third semester of senior year. The student will receive a certificate and honor tassel at the Senior Honors Banquet.

If anyone has been invited to previous underclassmen awards, they will receive a pin.  If this is the first time being invited to the underclassman awards, students will receive a Northrop letter for a letter jacket.

“I am very excited! I love getting to see everyone celebrate their accomplishments. Plus it reminds all of us that the end of the school year is just around the corner,” said sophomore Janae Gerdom, who will be attending and is receiving a medal for being in Top 10 of the sophomore class.

The awards will be held in the auditorium during sixth and seventh period on Tuesday, May 27.  The list of the students is outside guidance, and students should have received a letter in the mail.
