The boys swim team was victorious at the Angola swim meet on Dec. 12 at the Angola YMCA. The boys won by 18 points. This was the first meet that the Northrop boys have won this season.

The girls swim team lost to Angola by 12 points. Many swimmers recorded personal best times at the meet, including Evan Burnau, Gabe McDowell, Sebastian Rengifo, Matthew Gerhardstein and Cameron Kastner.

“It felt cool to win a meet and I’m thankful to Heidi Slavkin and Ryan Black for helping out to coach practices and meets,” said freshman Gerhardstein.

“I feel like we tried our best and that we can only get better” said junior Burnau.

Three of Northrop’s swimmers won their event. Burnau placed first in the 100 yard breaststroke. Ian Brubaker placed first in the 100 yard backstroke. Andrew Perez  won the 100 yard butterfly. The boys also won the 400 yard freestyle relay which consisted of Burnau, Perez, Kastner and Brubaker. This relay team also placed second in the 200 IM relay.
