Girls basketball led by five seniors; set sectional champion goal

Basketball season has begun!

This year’s group includes five seniors, all of whom have put in hundreds of hours of basketball since the end of last season and who also led the spring, summer and fall workouts. The seniors are Nevada Jones, Aleah Swary, Shontel Rogers, Aukita Wricks and Nikira Banks.

Attitudes, togetherness, and competitiveness have all improved in open gyms, workouts, and now practice. The players are pushing themselves and each other and are enjoying the process of competing and trying to get better each day.

“The key ingredient in this season’s success will be improving our sense of ‘family’ in practices and games!” said Varsity Head Coach Andrew Wyss.

This year’s squad will be more athletic and include a large groups of experienced players from last year’s varsity and junior varsity teams. The 2013-2014  season kicks off with arguably four of the five best teams on our schedule Homestead, South Bend Washington and the Snider Classic. This will give them great insight into the team’s competitiveness and ability to play with some of the great teams in the state of Indiana.

This year’s group of seniors will be relied on for leadership and increased production in a variety of roles. Goals include a winning regular season and sectional championship, none of which will be easy.

There is a lot of work to do but they are a great group of girls, and coaches, that will be fun to watch all year long!

Good Luck to our Lady Bruins, we hope the best for you!!!
