Speech & Debate finish in top 10 at Fishers

By Melissa Kizer
Staff Reporter

On Nov. 2, Speech and Debate went to Fishers High School in Indianapolis.  This is the place State Speech is held every year, so the competition was tough.  Many people placed in the tournament and the team received 10th in the meet, which was surprising considering Northrop had one of the smallest teams at the meet.

The individual awards were:

  • Janae Gerdom received 10th in Broadcasting.
  • Caleb Curtis received 4th in Dramatic Interpretation.
  • Urvi Joshi received 4th in United States Extemporaneous Speaking.
  • Srikiran Dasari received 5th in International Extemporaneous Speaking.
  • Hijiri Baker and Jaclynn Hess received 10th in Original Performance.
  • Jennifer Hess received 10th in United States Extemporaneous Speaking.
  • Andrew Reigelman received 14th in International Extemporaneous Speaking.

Congratulations to the students that placed.  The next meet is November 9 at South Side.
