On Saturday 13 Northrop students bowled in the individual Sectional competition at ProBowl West in the hopes of continuing on to Regionals. Thirty-eight bowlers got the chance to advance out of Sectionals and five of those students came from Northrop.

Alexa Fischer, Jessical Alvarenga, Haley Bower, Morgan McCartney, Morgan Koeep, Megan LaFontaine, and Rachel Haywood competed against over 50 others to claim one of the 18 available spots..

After three games, junior Alexa Fischer came in second with a series of 580, freshman Megan LaFontaine came in fourth with a series of 551, and sophomore Rachel Haywood came in seventeenth with a series of 486. The competition was fierce, filled with extremely talented athletes as Sydney Brummett from Homestead High School advanced on to Regionals with an untouchable series of 666. Rounding out the top four with Brummett, Fischer, and LaFontaine, freshman Courtney Rhodes from Columbia City claimed the number three spot with a series of 557.

The Northrop boys also found cause for celebration. Seniors Tyler Ferguson and Nick Potts advanced to Regionals alongside their female teammates. After they bowled three games against 50+ other guys, the names of the twenty Regional qualifiers were announced. Tyler snagged the twentieth spot with a series of 554, and Nick slid into twelfth with a nice 574. Those boys from Northrop that did not advance to Regionals still have a chance to help the team out Sunday at team Regionals, also held at ProBowl West. Brian Stillwell, Gabe Ulrey, Dallas Recker, and Christian Stout all bowled very well, but did not make the cut.

The pressure rises for those bowling at individual Regionals. Only 14 ladies will continue from this conference, and eighteen young men will advance as well. After singles is finished and those lucky qualifiers are announced, team competition starts at 1 p.m.
